Patty Tavatanakit breaks down after missed cut run ends

Watch LPGA star Patty Tavatanakit produce the feel-good moment of the year after making her first cut in months at the Scottish Open

If there’s one thing we love more than a hilariously relatable episode at NCG HQ, it’s a heart-warming moment which makes us remember exactly why we love this game.

Step forward Patty Tavatanakit.

The 22-year-old was brought to tears at the Scottish Open after a defiant 66 on round two saw the major winner fight back to make her first cut since April.

Having overcome an opening day 76 to break the five start drought, emotional scenes erupted at Dundonald Links as Tavatanakit – who rose to fame after winning the 2021 ANA Inspiration – filled in her card and contemplated the moment on the 18th hole…

And if that wasn’t enough to put a lump in our throats, Tavatanatik then shed light on the ups and downs of professional golf by delivering the most heartfelt, brilliantly honest interview:

“I had a rough stretch there, but I kept telling myself to keep it going. When your golf is not going well and your personal life is not going well, it just adds up emotionally,” Tavatanakit said, who last saw the weekend on the LPGA Tour at the Palos Verdes Championship in April.

“To be able to do that today really just helped with everything and it’s like a lull after a storm and just to see that, [it’s] very touching. [I] just kept believing in myself and that was the big thing, because I feel like a lot of times I question the things I do just because of the result.

“At the end of the day, you keep believing in what you’re doing, and it really did show today.”
