Ecco Biom G5 LK golf shoes review: First Impressions
Don’t these look smart? The overall shaping is really sleek and stylish and I love that these are neutral but feature intricate patterns and detailing on each side.
I really like the athletic styling and think the integration of BOA technology has really added to this.
If you look closely you can see the Cherry Blossom and Fern detailing. These pay homage to Lydia Ko’s country of birth, South Korea, and the country where she grew up, New Zealand, respectively.
Ko’s signature is also featured on the side of the shoe and her logo on the tongue.
Ecco Biom G5 LK golf shoes review: The Technology
The Ecco Biom G5 was designed to deliver athletic performance. The sporty design comes down to the new shaping. A low toe profile gives it a sleeker silhouette and a more feminine aesthetic. The shape allows the foot to move more naturally and stay low to the ground, as well as providing a snug fit.
Instead of traditional laces these feature BOA technology which gives a premium look and a snug, easily adjustable fit.
On the sole Zarma Tour spikes are combined with hybrid grooves to give you the best grip and stability.
These also feature Gore-Tex technology giving you 100 per cent waterproof protection keeping you dry no matter the weather.
Ecco Biom G5 LK golf shoes review: NCG Verdict
As soon as I heard these were launching I was so excited to get my hands on a pair. Ko is one of the best players the game has seen so it was clear to me some serious attention to detail would go into this product.
I was not disappointed, the whole look is very on brand. The overall styling is very simple yet delivers a brilliant athletic style. I love the way the flower detailing nods to Ko’s heritage but also adds a soft and more feminine element to the shoe.
Spiked shoes are in the minority now, but I still feel they give you unrivalled traction. These didn’t disappoint, giving me optimal grip on all terrains and surfaces. There has been some serious thought process put into the spike location too. You can feel yourself loading against the grip in the swing, which gives you lots of confidence to put a powerful swing on the ball.
Comfort is vital when it comes to golf shoes. It doesn’t matter how good the tech is if your feet are getting ripped apart. These were like slippers straight out of the box. I would say they run a little narrow compared to other Ecco models, but there are two insoles, so you can remove the top one to get a wider fit.
In terms of the upper, the BOA works so well to help you dial in exactly the fit you want with the bonus that you never have to fix your laces once you get out on the golf course.
Yes, these have a higher price point, but from experience Ecco shoes last exceptionally well. I also believe you get what you pay for when it comes to quality. These pack a punch in terms of fit, style, and technology and are worth the investment.
