The Swede has been dealt another blow after sensationally losing the Ryder Cup captaincy
Henrik Stenson has suffered another kick in the teeth after having his ties with the Swedish Golf Federation axed following his move to LIV Golf.
Saying he can “no longer act as a role for Swedish junior golfers”, Stenson sees his long-standing relationship with the national association terminated having already been stripped as Europe’s Ryder Cup captain because of the switch.
“We believe that Henrik, given his involvement with LIV Golf, can no longer act as a role model for Swedish junior golfers,” the Swedish Golf Federation told TT news agency.
Stenson, who was victorious on his LIV Golf debut, was previously attached as an ambassador for the federation’s paragolfers and hosted numerous competitions for Sweden’s junior golfers.
In what follows a rollercoaster past few months for Stenson, the one-time major winner released a statement on Instagram saying he still plans to support junior and paragolf in his homeland.
Stenson has earned over $4.5 million in just two events since joining the Greg Norman led series, and will tee up at Bangkok next as LIV Golf hosts its first tournament on Asian soil.
