Titleist TruFeel golf ball review: First impressions
The Titleist TruFeel manages to deliver a combination of soft feel and long distance, and this year we see some new colourways. How good does that matte red look?
Titleist TruFeel golf ball review: NCG verdict
For a ball at the bottom of the price range for Titleist, I was intrigued to see just how much performance I could get out of the Titleist TruFeel golf ball. I tested both the white and yellow versions of the ball to see if there were any differences and the results were very interesting….
Within testing, I hit a driver, 7 iron and a 60-yard pitch shot on trackman, along with some short game shots and putting. Compared to my normal Titleist Pro V1x I was getting very similar ball speeds and carry distances. I did however get longer distance in total due to extra rollout. Some shots were releasing up to 35 yards.
The Titleist TruFeel ball in the white colourway was spinning more with my 7-iron and driver and had less roll out. The yellow version had lower spin rates with increased rollout.
With my pitch shots, the results of the two colours were similar with some good spin but still 5-8 yards of roll out. The Titleist TruFeel is the softest Titleist golf ball and I found the soft feel around the green was great for short game shots and I still felt as if I had some control thanks to the soft cover.
When putting I got a really true roll which is very important to me. I liked the alignment aid on the ball as well. The thicker line helped me line up my ball easily and saves time as you don’t need to draw your own line on the golf ball. I also like how there are some fun colour options in the Titleist TruFeel range for those more enjoyable rounds or for players who like a different look over the ball.
The Titleist TruFeel is the perfect ball for a player just starting out or someone who wants an all-around fun golf ball that won’t break the bank but still performs well.
Titleist TruFeel golf ball review: The technology
The new core is larger but also faster thanks to its low compression design.
The TruFlex cover has been redesigned and made thinner. The material is a Titleist proprietary formation designed to provide soft feel and excellent greenside control.
The dimple design features 376 tetrahedral dimples. They are specially tiled around the golf ball to optimise long game distance.
The TruFeel side stamp has been specifically designed to improve golfers alignment. It was picked as it was the most used option from the My Titleist customiser.
From October the TruFeel will also be available in a brand new matte red colourway.
The Titleist TruFeel golf ball is manufactured by Titleist at their own Ball Plant 2 in Massachusetts to ensure consistent performance and quality from every box.
