Sungjae Im took recovery shots to a whole new level after finding himself in the Las Vegas wild at the Shriners Open
We’re only four events deep into the 2023 PGA Tour season, and we’ve already seen what might just be the recovery shot of the season from Sungjae Im.
Aiming to defend his title at the Shriners Children’s Open, Im found himself in trouble on day one when his tee shot at the par 4-3rd trickled into the dreaded ‘native area’ at TPC Summerlin.
What on earth is the ‘native area’ might you ask? Well Im was basically forced to play from the Las Vegas desert for his second, while being uphill, blind, 163 yards out, and surrounded by rocks.
Sounds treacherous. And damn right impossible. But just look what the South Korean did next…
Complete madness from the defending champ as he nearly holed out from an angle which would give many of us nightmares, lost balls, and even broken wrists.
Im would of course tap in for birdie en route to an opening 66, while submitting his difficult to beat candidate for recovery shot of the year.
