QBE Shootout
An unofficial money event on the PGA Tour, the QBE Shootout is a team golf event played during the off-season in December.
Inaugurated in 1989, the tournament was originally called the RMCC Invitational, and was hosted by Greg Norman. Under the Aussie’s leadership, the event was soon renamed the Shark Shootout. Norman has since lost hosting duties after becoming the CEO of LIV Golf.
The first eleven editions of the tournament were played at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. The QBE Shootout was then moved to the Norman designed Golf Course at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida in 2001, where it has remained ever since.
The format of the QBE Shootout is a three-day, 54-hole stroke play event in which teams of two compete. Since 2014, this has consisted of a first round scramble, second round greensomes, and final round better ball.
