First impressions
Outlandish, garish and bold are not words I would associate with my style on or off the course and that’s why the Travis Matthews golf range is reassuringly comforting both to look at and to wear.
The Cloud Quarter Zip 2.0 comes in a range of six different pastel colours, the Travis Matthews logo is subtle and the style very understated and I really like the additional material that covers the zip. I also noted that despite being folded on arrival there were no creases in the garment at all.
On course testing
First impressions were great and this was backed up on the course. Initially it looks like style may have been prioritised over performance but that is not the case.
It has a performance fit, not too snug but no overhanging material on the midriff or arms which allows you to comfortably perform a full swing with no restriction.
I did think the lightweight nature of the top might compromise the warmth but that is not the case. The fleece fabric lining is not something I have come across in golf apparel before and is a nice touch which provides the warmth you would expect and want from your winter wardrobe. On colder days I have found the addition of a Gilet was ample in keeping me warm on the course.
My only issue with the design is the length of the top, though that may be more to do with me than the design. I am 5ft 9 and felt like the top hung a lower down my waist than other tops I’ve worn. This did not impact on performance just a personal preference.
The 19th hole
The block colours makes this an item that can go with any look. I have found myself wearing it off the course as much as on with plenty of positive feedback.
