Imagine winning so many trophies that your mum had to give them all away
Tiger Woods’ 2000 season is widely regarded as the greatest individual season in sports history. The American was in a league of his own throughout the year, setting 27 PGA Tour records and winning three consecutive majors before wrapping up his career grand slam at the 2001 Masters.
But despite this utterly ridiculous season – on top of every other insane Tiger feat – it turns out the 15-time major winner actually peaked way before he was dominating everyone on the PGA Tour. And by way before, we’re talking about when Tiger was just 11-years-old. Or so he claims.
In a hilarious Q&A with budding golfers at the Tiger Woods Foundational Junior Invitational, the 46-year-old revealed that his life peaked at the ripe age of 11 after winning such an absurd amount of trophies that his mum was forced to give them all to charity!
Don’t believe us? Here’s what the great one had to say for himself…
“By the time I had turned 12, when I was 11, my mum made me donate all my trophies,” Woods said. “Because I had won 113.
“When I was 11-years-old my life peaked. I got straight As. I got outstanding for effort and participation. I never got posted or in trouble during recess. I won 36 tournaments that summer. I went 36-0.
“And I think I had the cutest girlfriend. So yes, life peaked at 11.”
Incredible. Good to know Woods has a rational perspective on one of the most successful professional careers of all time.
