First impressions

Golf hoodies remain a very controversial topic amongst some golfers, and for women aren’t so readily available. For this reason, I have never owned one, but I was excited to see what all the hype was about.

Unpackaging it, it seemed very casual in comparison to normal golf apparel. The design of the hoodie also sat slightly cropped, which wouldn’t be something I’d typically go for, especially as a winter piece.

Like most of Puma’s Autumn/Winter collection, the hoodie has moisture-wicking fabric, which, combined with the Cloudspun material offers a soft and stretchy texture. Puma has also used recycled fibres to help reduce its environmental impact, which is great.

On course testing

As a UK size 12 in tops, I wore this hoodie in a medium. At 5ft 8, this came up a little cropped. It doesn’t specify this as a cropped hoodie, but it was certainly shorter than standard. I felt that it fit very nicely, with a great sleeve length, and added thumb holes in the cuffs.

I found this hoodie really nice to play and practice in. There was a good amount of elasticity in the fabric made it easy to move in. The material isn’t too thick but is fairly heavy to hold. Alone it doesn’t offer a great amount of warmth; however, it did work well with a base layer and polo underneath. The neckline can also be adjusted with the drawstrings to keep the warmth in.

The two front pockets sit quite high, meaning they’re not great for putting your hands in and with no fastening, they’re not the most ideal for storage.

The 19th hole

For me, this is one of the most versatile golf garments out there. From unpackaging, I wasn’t sure if it would get much wear but I have reached for this so many times. Being a hoodie, it is very casual and can be worn in so many other settings. I really enjoyed that I could wear this on the course and then casually to the gym or shop, making it great value for money too!
