‘Pathetic!’ PGA Tour under fire for latest LIV snub

The Golf Channel has also been criticised after a misleading graphic during the WGC-Match Play Championship

The PGA Tour takes great care to ensure its records are accurate and comprehensive, documenting every tournament, every score, and every winner in meticulous detail.

However, recent events have raised questions about the Tour’s commitment to fairness and accuracy, as two of its most accomplished players, Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson, were inexplicably left off a list of winners.

The knockout stages of the WGC-Match Play Championship was in full swing on Saturday when TV viewers were treated to a graphic listing the winners back to Luke Donald in 2011.

But it quickly became apparent that there were two glaring omissions – and you don’t get past social media…

The PGA Tour’s decision to leave Johnson and Watson – who won the Match Play in 2017 and 2018 respectively – off the list has been met with widespread criticism from fans, players, and pundits alike.

Whether it was a PGA Tour decision or a Golf Channel decision, many have questioned the motives and suggested that the decision was a deliberate attempt to downplay the accomplishments of the pair, who have been vocal critics of the Tour’s handling of various issues in recent years.
