PGA Tour reveals FedEx Cup Fall schedule

The new FedEx Cup Fall will offer a number of opportunities for the PGA Tour’s rank-and-file to earn valuable exemptions into designated events and major tournaments for 2024

The PGA Tour has announced a new post-season schedule, called the FedEx Cup Fall, which will offers crucial benefits and exemptions lower-ranked players.

Seven events will allow players outside of the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings to earn PGA Tour exemptions, entries into designated events, and access to increased prize money.

All players who finish 70th or better in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the eligibility points list through the 2023 Tour Championship in September are exempt for the 2024 season, but players ranked from 51st to 70th will be able to build more points in the FedEx Cup Fall calendar.

The Fortinet Championship will kick off proceedings in September before the Sanderson Farms Championship, Shriners Children’s Open, and Zozo Championship follow in October.

The World Wide Technology Championship, Butterfield Bermuda Championship, and RSM Classic complete the new schedule and finalise the top 125 priority rankings for the 2024 PGA Tour season.

The PGA Tour has also moved the Houston Open to the spring and, as widely reported, the WGC-Dell Match Play will not be held next season.

A Challenge Season was also announced for December, incorporating the Hero World Challenge, Grant Thornton Invitational, and PNC Championship.

PGA Tour president Tyler Dennis described the changes as “the most meaningful since 2007”, which was the first year of the FedEx Cup as we know it today.

He added: “The reimagining of our schedule – from the regular season with designated and full-field events to the FedExCup Playoffs and culminating with the FedEx Cup Fall – creates distinct but connected ‘chapters’, and within this new framework the FedEx Cup Fall is now more than ever an integral part of that compelling story.

“There will be so much at stake – and more immediate payoffs – as opportunities are unlocked in the FedEx Cup Fall for the season to come.

“Players have the chance to secure or improve their playing status and earn additional benefits for the following season, and we are confident a number of top performers will continue to support events that have traditionally fit into their respective schedules.”

What’s up for grabs in the FedEx Cup Fall?

Winner benefits: Event winners will earn a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and an entry into the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the Players Championship, and eligibility in major championships.

Priority ranking position: The FedEx Cup Fall will finalise the priority ranking for the 2024 season – including the top-125 category for players who finished outside of the top 70 in the FedEx Cup standings.

Entry in designated events: Ten players with the most points accumulated through the FedEx Cup Fall tournaments will earn places in the two designated events that follow the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Entry into the Players Championship: Players not already eligible can use the Fall to get into the TPC Sawgrass showpiece.

Prize money: $56.6 million in prize money will be dished out in the Fall schedule.
