Motocaddy Cube Push Golf Trolley: First Impressions

Straight out of the box, this was very easy to assemble. A wheel on either side, pull it up and push the front wheel out, adjust the handle height and well, you’re ready to go.

When it came to transporting it I couldn’t believe how small it folded up. It was also incredibly lightweight weighing just 6.8kgs, whilst this isn’t the lightest push trolley Motocaddy offers it is the smallest when folded. In comparison to my electric trolley, it hardly made a dent in the boot space. The Cube also came with a useful carry handle to make holding it much more comfortable too.

I really liked the look of this trolley. The all-graphite frame with red detailing looked very smart. If the red isn’t to your taste, you can also pick the Cube up in lime or blue.

Starting with practicality, when I got to the course I gave the Cube to my dad to assemble. Without any advice, the trolley was up in seconds which I would consider a great success and easy to assemble. I think it’s great that the handle height can be adjusted based on your personal preference and so quickly with the lifting of a clip and putting it back in place after alteration.

I tested both a cart bag on the trolley and a smaller stand bag and both worked great with no movement thanks to the adjustable elasticated bag supports.

As a predominately electric trolley user, I was wowed by the amount of storage space a trolley could provide you with. There was a built-in bottle and scorecard holder, a storage area with a lid, ball and tee holders, and finally a net under the handle for any loose extras. The Cube also comes with a space for an umbrella holder if you wish to purchase one separately to attach.

One thing I did find was that the Motocaddy Cube had a much larger wheel base than my electric trolley and so the whole thing felt much bigger and taller. This wasn’t an issue at all and if anything the wider wheel base helped with stability.

One of the courses I am a member of at Hickleton is certainly not the ideal course to use a push trolley on. It’s very hilly and so I had my work cut out pushing around there. I found the parking foot brake a little bit of a struggle at times but as I said there is a lot of undulation and so it was needed a lot. When I did find some flat areas I quite happily left the trolley without the brake on but I particularly found disengaging the break on a downslope difficult. After a couple of holes, I noticed that this became easier when rocking the Cube back a little but this isn’t anything major at all…if anything perhaps user error.

The wheels are very slim and lightweight and can be easily put on and off. They are also very easy to clean too.

Final thoughts

Having not used a push trolley for a while I really enjoyed how smooth and easy to Cube was to use. As a member of a hilly golf club, this certainly wouldn’t be my go-to trolley but if you’re based somewhere flatter this is a great option.

If you’re not after a space-saving push trolley with some added storage then you might be best saving on cost and looking at the Motocaddy P1.
